This is another one of those ones that I just have to watch every now and again. There's just something so heartwarming about it. I'm not one for sap or romance, but if the mood strikes me, then this is the one I go to.

The music? I'm not going to pretend it's perfect, but I can't think of any flaws off the top of my head either. Even with the songs I'm not particularly fond of, I just can't bring myself to skip; they're that compelling to me.

Julie Andrews does a fantastic job, and so does everyone else. I actually like most of the characters, and that's hard to make me do, since it's so easy for me to turn against a character immediately.

Again, I won't say it's flawless (it's not) but it's one of those movies that you can ignore its problems and just enjoy the film as a whole. None of the problems are that glaring, in fact I can only think of one nitpick at the moment ( I don't like the Rolfe and Liesl romance, it just feels a little forced to me).

And even that nitpick is more personal preference than an actual critique. I don't even mind the extremely long running time. In fact, it just makes me feel like I actually spend time with all the characters better.

Yeah, I always feel like I've been with them for the amount of time Maria has. I feel like I have actually been there as long as she has, that I didn't miss any time that passed between her and the Von Trapp family.

It somehow makes me feel closer to everyone involved, which is not something easy to do with all the different characters in this film. I even get a laugh every now and again, and I also get a little drama that's not pushed or overdone in my tastes.

That's hard to do. Oh, and the setting is gorgeous and so are the sets; I never get tired of the scenery. The Von Trapp mansion never fails to take my breath away; it actually seems to get better with each viewing.

I may sound a little gushy, but this was one of the first musicals I was introduced to as a child, so I guess I can't help but be attached. It's a nice movie to relax to. Then again, what's wrong with liking a good movie? And that's what this is, hands down.

It's a fantastic film worth watching over and over!
