Review of The Sound of Music (1965) by Mikhail B — 25 Dec 2011
One of the first 'classical' musicals. A former nun watches after children of a widowed well-off Austrian gentleman, wins the trust of his kids, breaks his marriage, takes the first prize in a singing contest and escapes from the Nazi.
As you can see, the plot is a stupid mess, but the songs are pretty and easily recognisable. A little too long for modern standards (3 hours).
