Review of The Sound of Music (1965) by Tom M — 26 Mar 2015
I always loved this movie as a kid, and just merely appreciated it as a teenager. It was after Lady Gaga's wonderful performance of various songs from 'The Sound of Music' at the 2015 academy awards that I truly realized what this film meant to me and many others.
There was a fear that the songs and feeling of this film would have simply have been parodied (and luckily was performed well and taken seriously), but why did this fear exist? Simply put, 'The Sound of Music' is a treasure that has and hopefully will continue to prove itself as a timeless classic for all to enjoy.
It's strange, even though movies like 'Citizen Kane' and 'Vertigo' might be more influential. 'The Sound of Music' and maybe one or two others are the films I hope never get lost in history.
