Review of The Sound of Music (1965) by Sakumi T — 27 Nov 2014
I think this movie is loved by everyone, and still bright even though almost 50 years passed since it was released. I'm sure you can enjoy this artwork regardless of your age or gender.
This movie features on "The story of the Trapp Family Singers". The work focused on a real-life family, and surprisingly, the author is the main character, Maria von Trapp.
The story is set in 1930s Austria; the time is called "The last golden days of Austria"(This sentence is run as a subtitles in the beginning of the story).
[SPOILER ALERT].
The heroine Maria is an apprentice sister, and one day she is sent to the von Trapp family as a home tutor.
I love the scene, Maria going to the von Trapp family's house. This scene was played with a song "I have a confidence in me" in this movie. The song is one of which is specially composed and added to movie by Richard Lodgers. Maria sings this song carrying two big suitcases powerfully and lively. Surprisingly sometimes with light steps.
I think the hilight of this story is the von Trapps staging of a music festival.
The Trapp family performed in front of a large audience, and they magically disappeared. Everything on this stage is fantastic.
As I said, men and women of all ages can have a good time watching this movie. Do you know why I can declare so?
This movie develops with many songs, so children undoubtedly loves it. This story's setting is around 1939, a time of the rise of Nazism. The von Trapp family and people in this film are at the mercy of the times. Through the historical aspect of The Sound of music, we can think about ourself. You will ask yourself, "How could I live in this era?".
