Review of The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) by Chuck S — 08 Jul 2011
It was the perfect movie for a light - family movie night. I was expecting worse, based on a lot of the bad reviews from the critics, and yet I found the comparisons to Disney's fantasia really flat.
The only real homage to fantasia is the cleaning scene (water buckets and mops). The special effects were great and story line seemed clean. My biggest hang up was with the character Dave Stutler, I found young Dave more appealing and believable than older Dave.
Older Dave, who happens to be on screen more, is annoying. His performance/character is the weaker part of the film. Overall, as long as expectations are "grounded," (pun intended) I think most everyone will enjoy this.
