Review of The Song of Bernadette (1943) by Bob S — 16 Jan 2007
In comparison with Bernadette (1990), this film is a masterpiece. All comparisons aside, however, this isn't that great of a film either. The acting from everyone except the lead actress (Jennifer Jones) is superb, and the script and direction are mediocre.
Even so, it's mildly entertaining, and that's more than I can say about the newer version. It might be worth a look.
