Review of The Son of No One (2011) by Ana B — 31 Aug 2012
Thriller set in NY where a cop is getting constant reminders about two killings he committed when he was a teenager living in the Queensboro Projects, an area with high criminality. Jonathan is now a respectable policeman with a good reputation and a young family. He doesnâ(TM)t understand who is harassing him and how this person got the information. He suspects of his old friend Vinnie -who helped him to hide the bodies- because he always had mental health problems, however he seems harmless. There is also a nosy journalist who threatens to publish the story, his distrustful wife and his aggressive work colleagues.
This should have been a really intense and gripping film, however it is very loose, you spend half the time trying to figure out why the characters behave like they do and the other half thinking how can they be so short sighted, the twist at the end doesnâ(TM)t fully explain the inconsistencies of the story. It feels like the good cast and decent plot of this movie has been lost in a poor script.
