Review of The Soloist (2009) by Harminder S — 16 Jul 2010
While the performances of Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx were solid The Soloist felt like a one hour movie stretched to two. The beautiful music in between does set the tone well but it just felt like the movie could have achieved just as much in 90 mins.
The director does a good job of showing the chaos of Ayers' mind coupled with the chaos of LA and Skid Row. The Soloist also brings out the message that the homeless problem in LA is still terrible and throwing money at it isn't helping.
Overall a decent watch.
