Review of The Soloist (2009) by Bashar H — 30 Aug 2010
It's a shame Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. didn't get any oscar nominations for their performances. But it's also a shame that this film was a real let down in the story department. Not only was it too short, but most of the movie wasn't even about Jamie Foxx.
Most of it's about Downey Jr. and his article. This really sucks because the story of Nathaniel Ayers is a powerful and moving one that could have been told in such depth. But no, they decided to leave most of it out.
What a tease. On the other hand, there are still some interesting scenes in this film that have extreme depth. Those scenes were excellently done, and if they just stuck to those scenes, they would have had a hit.
Too bad they didn't do that though. :P.
