Review of The Soloist (2009) by Lauri L — 08 Oct 2010
Robert Downey does a pretty darn good in this one as a journalist suddenly hitting a nerve making a column about this former julliard student who has ended up in the streets of Los Angeles.
And yes - there is some valid continent but the way it is delivered leaves much to be hoped for. Dreamworks has been recruited but it remains unclear how all these gorgeous effects relate - or jumps to the childhood - now that director has time to do all this fancy stuff it remains also unclear in what importance the main character plays in this movie?
Jamie Foxx tries so hard but the storyline is forced down the viewers throat and not enough breathing space has been left the characters to remain asymmetrical.
Some brilliant moments remain though. Not recommended.
