Review of The Snapper (1993) by Alex C — 28 Apr 2018
Offbeat, a bit contrived and one note (how many bar scenes/drunkenness/barfing, and how much yelling can we have?), but also charming and illustrative of a tight Irish clan in the 80s/90s. While not played as a straight drama, it is much more drama than outright comedy.
I was hoping to laugh more, but found Colm Meany's evolving father figure to be an interesting sub-plot in itself that added to the depth of the story.
