Review of The Smurfs (2011) by Kieran F — 01 Mar 2014
I've been a fan of live action/CGI hybrids since I can remember. I also remember learning about the Smurfs characters from my parents. And now, we get a Smurfs live action/CGI hybrid that reigns down the laughs from relatable (Though under developed) characters.
We've got smurfs like Papa, Grumpy, Clumsy, Brainy, Gutsy, and Smurfette, who are generally just those things, unlike the most recent TMNT show where the main cast is more than just what they are.
They find human Patrick Winslow (Neil Patrick Harris) and his pregnant wife Grace, and need a way to get back to Smurf Village from NYC, while avoiding being captured by Gargamel, and as you can guess, Smurf behavior isn't too applicable here, resulting in hilarious misadventures of a smurfy nature.
I will say this: The use of the word "smurf" is way too high! It's a smurfing good time of a movie, but still, they could tone it down. I still find some places where it's used amusing.
This smurfing movie is something you should smurfing see, whether you're 4 or 40!
