Review of The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) by Lotti K — 03 Feb 2010
The one, the only, the legend. Released at the height of the home video explosion, this one is the holy grail of straight to video, low budget slasher flicks. At a time when Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees were slashin' up the big screen Michael Villela's portrayal of escaped psychopath Russ Thorn is unnerving.
Several sequels and many other knock-offs later no other filmaker could capture the raw intensity found in this bloody gem. If you are a true fan try to find a early Embassy Entertainment release, the grainy picture quality adds to the feel of this all time horror classic.
