Review of The Sleeping Dictionary (2003) by Nina S — 05 May 2010
This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm a fan of Jessica, I think she's gorgeous, and I love Hugh, having latched onto him in Black Hawk Down. This movie was a real visual treat, with so much pretty on one screen, and the stunning backdrop of the Malaysian jungle to boot. The story, however, is a little...thin.
I *like* the story, don't get me wrong, but some of it seemed a little underdeveloped to me. The dramatic scenes between Jessica and Hugh were very well done, but some of the other characters seemed a little shallow to me.
All in all it was a great film and I'm surprised that it isn't more well known. It's a fun story to immerse yourself in and it leaves you with a good feeling by the end.
