Review of The Skin I Live In (2011) by Josep P — 30 Mar 2012
Beautifully made, this is a terrific film from Almodovar...
Filled with interesting characters and an utterly compelling story, I became totally engaged with this story. The fractured story telling jumping back and forward in time which slowly reveals the motives of the characters, the concept and intent of the film becomes something quite horrific.
Banderas is terrific as our central character, the doctor with a number of secrets in his closet, the change in his character throughout the film is handled with subtlety and he is matched every inch of the way by Elena Anaya, his only patient.
In addition to this, the film looks absolutely beautiful and is directed by Almodovar who clearly knows how to play material like this. Challenging and engaging, this is a brilliant film.....
