Had this on my DVR for awhile so finally watched this. Not what some would consider a horror movie but it had it's definite elements. Antonio Banderas is Dr Robert Ledgard (the mad scientist), Elena Anaya is Vera Cruz (the "monster" so to speak) and Marisa Paredes is Marillia, Dr Ledgard's servent.
Banderas plays a very sinister, brilliant, god-like dr who will do whatever he can to ease the pain of losing his wife. This is a Spanish movie with subtitles.
