Review of The Skin I Live In (2011) by Cameron B — 24 Jul 2012
As darkly disturbing as it is visually breathtaking, Almodovar's latest combines your over-cooked revenge movie with enough sick twists and unexpected turns to keep you guessing and grossed out. All the creepiness (which is the stuff of much darker and more sinister films) is presented rather lightly making it slightly more palatable.
The point this film tries to present is one of the highlights: we may live in this tangible body, but we live through our irrepressible soul.
