Review of The Skeleton Twins (2014) by Kyle B — 01 Feb 2015

Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig blew me away. I adore both of them and I have never seen a performance from them like this. The way they balanced comedy and drama was something I have never seen on any media form ever.

Both give the performances of their career and they deserve Golden Globe wins and Oscar talk. The screenplay, which won an audience award at Sundance, also should get Oscar talk as well. Burrell and Wilson are both great in supporting thankless roles that were destined to be overshadowed by Hader and Wiig.

The dance scene that if you watched the trailer you would know includes "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" is the most joyful and entertaining dance scene since "Come on Eileen" in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I cried because I was laughing so hard. Bring tissues because you'll laugh so hard and you'll cry alot consistently. This is a must see for everyone especially SNL fans. You'll be crying as well that these two are not on SNL anymore.

The chemistry between these two is so remarkable, I want them to star in every movie. As much as I laughed, this movie is really dark talking about suicide but this movie reminds me alot of Curfew/Before I Disappear balancing such a dark subject with humor.

I had issues with framing of these scenes the shots we really close up and as much as I love these two I don't want to be this close to these guys unless I meeting them in real life. But that is film student problems that no one else probably cares about.

There is a great moment at the end of this movie that does this total 180 the way it is shot that is really cool. So far, this movie has made it to be my 3rd favorite movie of the year but come back to me at the end of the year to see if it stays up there.
