Review of The Skeleton Key (2005) by Hannah H — 15 Nov 2009

I'm not typically a fan of any thriller-type movies, especially gory ones. I rented this movie with a friend who lives for horror-gore, and we hoped that this would settle somewhere in the middle of our preferences so that everyone would be happy.

I wasn't sure at first, but I honestly have to say that it wasn't bad. By no means was it spectacular, but it was entertaining enough and not as low-quality as most thrillers tend to be. Perhaps it was the cast that helped to establish the quality, with A-list star Kate Hudson and surprisingly even a couple of Hollywood legends like John Hurt and Gena Rowlands.

There was little to no gore, and the thrills were achieved in more of a subtle, creepy manner... without anyone having to be cut up or de-faced.
