Review of The Sixth Sense (1999) by Ryan A — 07 Jun 2013
The Sixth Sense. It is so refreshing to see Bruce Willis in a non-action role, which he nailed. Osment's Oscar-nominated performance is going down in history as one of the best child performances of all time. Donnie Wahlberg might be my favorite part of the movie, if it wasn't for the classic twist ending. I think people are forgetting what a feat it actually was to fake out so many people in the audience.
And let us not forget the underlying theme of how vital communication is with those close to us. The kid's real gift is not seeing ghosts; it is the ability to facilitate communication between the physical world and spiritual world.
Most would call this Shyamalan's greatest masterpiece to date. It is hard to argue. The Sixth Sense is virtually flawless. If you have not seen it, what are you waiting for?
