Review of The Sitter (2011) by Mike C — 17 Apr 2012
Probably being generous with a 4/10 rating. Besides the little girl, who is adorable and hilarious, the movie is pretty much a massive failure. Ridiculous plot, ridiculous characters, and well, just overall ridiculous.
I'm not afraid to have fun with a movie. There were lots of filthy comedies to come out last summer. This follows in their path, but way too many liberties were taken in the plot. It's so far over the top it distracts from any story there might be. That's just bad movie-making. Hill says a few funny things but he's not as funny as he usually is. The little girl a great character, and she's really hilarious at the start of the movie. Less funny as it moves along. The little boy has a cool voice. The adopted kid really has no redeeming qualities haha. Rockwell...geez, we all need a paycheck but c'mon man.
Perhaps this is a revisit of the 80s classic Adventures in Babysitting. It will be an adventure to stay in your seat for the 82 minutes it takes to get to the end of this flick.
