Review of The Sisters Brothers (2018) by Kishmir I — 13 Oct 2018
Guess I'm not sophisticated enough to appreciate the dark humor of SB. Lots of riding, horse mutilation and killing which I applaud as part of the wild west. Scenery was dramatic and interesting. Didn't recognize Rutger Hauer, as he had no speaking role, just a metaphorical figure in the window. NYTimes critic mentioned Jake G's strange accent, so I wasn't alone in being unable to place it. Getting a mouthful of spider apparently isn't as awful as I thought it would be and giving birth to a clutch of spiders isn't reason to break out some champagne. The most interesting aspect of this film was the list of financial contributors which filled the entire screen. Over 30 I believe. Never seen anything like it. Usually 3 - 5 but this was either very impressive or a signal that no one thought much of the financial success of this film.
The theater, Cinemark 20, had lazy-boy recliner type chairs so viewing the film was at least very comfortable.
BTW, does that chemical work? Other than killing fish, otter and other river wildlife, risking acid burns on the skin and even death, is there a chemical that at night .... don't want to give too much away. Just wondering.
