Review of The Singing Detective (2003) by Stephanie S — 19 Mar 2008
Pretty much, 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' is an improved role for Robert Downey, Jr., loosely based on the kind of character he is here (the way I see it) - which is quite ironic, since the phrase "kiss kiss, bang bang" is actually in this script.
Robert is fine...the mouthed singing is a little much for me. I do love how he talks as if he's writing, noting punctuation and such. The surprising diversity in the supporting cast was nice...It's strange to see what Robert has done in two year increments - this, 'Kiss Kiss', now 'Iron Man'! He gets better with age is all I'm sayin'.
