At this point, the show really isn't that funny anymore... least as much as it used to be. Which makes it all the more surprising, that the movie actually manages to outshine many of the later seasons.
It's not perfect, but it proves that there's still plenty of life left in The Simpsons, and that they can actually be funny still.
