Review of The Simpsons Movie (2007) by Justin A — 18 Dec 2014
Well, it's better late than never? The show was a huge hit in the 90s, especially the first 8 seasons, but as the years went by the show's popularity has faded a bit and it's more of a ghost of what it used to be. I think most would agree that the movie should have been made somewhere around the time of season 8 or 9. Then maybe end the show with season 10 (at least I think that would have been a proper time to end it). Either way, what's done is done and this is what we have to show for it.
Is the movie any good? Sure. It's okay. It's pretty funny at times and is on par with episodes from the eighth and ninth seasons. Does the movie reach the charm and hilarity of the best seasons of The Simpsons? Not even close. I don't think many expected that with this movie though, so what we get is actually still really enjoyable and a must watch for fans of the show. This was the last thing the show needed to do, and whether you're in the camp that believes the show should have ended a long time ago or you're glad to see it continue we can all agree this movie is still satisfactory.
