Review of The Simpsons Movie (2007) by Caitlin B — 07 Dec 2012
I love the Simpsons. Even when I was wee I adored them. Even now that I'm older I still liked to sit and watch the brightly yellow family engage in hijinks. Now, when I heard that a movie was in development, I admit, I was keen to see it.
But after watching that film, I felt somewhat disappointed.
There were one too many plot twists from one place to the other (like in the TV show.) For instance, they were concerned about the environment, next they were in Alaska or something hiding in a cabin hiding from the fbi.
What bugs me the most is the "struggling relationship" between Homer and Bart in this film. I mean, Bart gets treated like shit by his moron father throughout this film and then right in the end he just instantly forgives him in exchange for blowing something up.
But hey, this is Homer and Bart, they've always had an up and down relationship with one another. But thinking of it now, was this really necessary? The whole daddy issues thing in the film? And was the Irish boy love interest thing for Lisa necessary too?
I know is been years since this movie came out, but this is my first review so I need something to criticise about.
In conclusion, they didn't have to make a Simpsons film, just because it had 'The Simpsons' in the title. They should've just left it as a animated sitcom.
