Review of The Simpsons Movie (2007) by Tim S — 23 Jul 2014
What I originally expected from The Simpsons Movie was that it would be a 90 minute advertisement for the TV show, that there would be catchphrases or quotes and that they would have to save the town from something.
I was right about the latter two story aspects. I remember seeing this in theaters and enjoying it, but I hadn't revisited it until just recently, which tells me something: it wasn't great enough that I wanted to see it again immediately.
It's not that it's bad or anything, but it just feels like they should have made the movie sooner than they did. There are some genuine laughs in there though, which make it worth watching. I'm not an enormous fan of The Simpsons, at least not as much as my wife, but I still enjoy it and I enjoyed this movie.
