Review of The Silent House (2010) by Federico S — 26 Jan 2011
One of those "groundbreaking" movies that come along every now and then to "change moviemaking", The Silent House is original as it is shot only in one single, uncut take. The real-time approach gives the film an authentic air that draws you in.
However, that is the movie's only strength - and to be fair, at times its greatest weakness. The film quickly feels slow and droning, and the unlikable characters and the implausable story only adds to it.
Also, I believe there is ONE genuine scare in there. An interesting experiment, but an uninteresting result.
