Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Israel L — 10 Jun 2013
Horror and thriller often get pushed to the side when it comes to looking at films from an artist and critical point of view. And most of the time, us fans of these genres have no issue being a part of a fringe cult.
But we do love a good movie as much as the rest, and even better we love it when the critics and the audiences give a movie recognition it deserves. Few films have ever taken the horror genre to the level of artistic achievement that "Silence of the Lambs" has.
Though many will point out that the film is no really a horror film but instead much more of a thriller crime film, it can not be denied the horror aspects of this film, and the influence it has had on horror culture.
The performances can simply not be hyped enough, and the filming is top notch. The Hannibal sequels are tragic affairs, only worth watching for Hopkin's performances, but "Silence" takes horror, serial killers and terror to levels few have ever dared to go.
