Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Wesley W — 27 Feb 2014
One of the most intelligent and one of the most engaging psychological thrillers out there. This truly is a movie that is worthy of its Best Picture win. Pretty much everything is great here. The acting, writing, and directing are all fantastic here.
Anthony Hopkins gives one of the most brilliant performances ever given by an actor and he highly deserved his Best Actor win. He plays such a smart and intimidating villain here and in my opinion, the factors that make a villain memorable and great is to be both intelligent and menacing.
Jodie Foster did a fantastic job here as well and she deserved her Best Actress oscar because she shine in all of her scenes as well. The script for this film is thought provoking and original and there was a lot of fantastic dialogue spoken here.
All the scenes between Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster were all intriguing, interesting, memorable, and engaging. The chemistry they had together was one of the best contributing factors of this picture.
Jonathan Demme proves himself with this movie that he is such an intelligent and smart filmmaker because there are grusome and terrifying moments here that are so well acted and directed and he deserved his Best Director oscar.
I wish we had more movies out there like this that have a great story and succeed at being taut and memorable. In my opinion, this sets the bar highest for other films in it's genre.
