Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Jordan K — 24 Apr 2015
The Silence of the Lambs is an amazing film that isn't particularly fear invoking but more on a psychologically interesting level is the film so entertaining. The film has such an interesting plot and memorable characters that it's hard not to love it - it's beautifully made and suspense sneaks its away on the screen in every Lecter closeup.
A FBI agent has frequent visits to a psych ward to question the infamous psychiatrist turned murderer and cannibal Dr. Hannibal Lecter in order to get answers to who and where infamous murderer and skinner "Buffalo Bill" is. Lecter's cannibalistic comments and Bill's kidnapping and torturing of the daughter of a US senator provoke viewers and give them a sense of insecurity as well as Agent Starling herself.
The Silence of the Lambs is beautifully made - it has a creepy feel to it but it makes a goal out of constant suspense and interesting characters. Hannibal Lecter is an interesting and really such a mysterious and unknown character until his sequel and prequels ahead. The first installment in the Lecter series is an amazing contribution to film and is one of the best thrillers of all time - it's a must see.
