Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Eduardo G — 19 Jan 2016
This is the first and only horror movie to win an oscar and rightfully so. Silence of the lambs is a movie directed Jonathan Demme and stars Anthony Hopkins(Hannibal Lecter) and Jodie Foster (Clarice Starling) and it's one of the best serial killer movies ever made.
The highlight of this movie is Anthony Hopkins, the way he played Hannibal was just nerve-wracking and the way he delivered the dialogue was unbelievable. He truly makes you feel uneasy when he is on the screen.
This is one of the best villain performances along with Heath Ledger's Joker from the Dark Knight. Jodie Foster also did an excellent job in giving an emotional performance. The movie was so fast paced and greatly edited, most of the violence occurs offscreen, with a glimpse of 2 corpses and 2 acts of violence.
Nevertheless they managed to make this movie truly gruesome in a way. The film was very well made, I was engaged 100% of the time, and it's an example of how movies should be made. Short exposition that explains a lot, well crafted dialogue and cinematography.
Developed and interesting characters, and a great plot. This movie is truly a masterpiece and that's why it deserves a perfect score.
