Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Corey D — 09 May 2016
A classic and for good reasons. I'm a horror genre veteran and don't "spooky easily", much like our lead, Clarice Starling. However, I feel that both she and I felt somehow disturbed and almost violated by Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Hannibal Lecter. Most certainly any casual moviegoer would feel the same. Though some moments are nearly laughable, such as the infamous face-eating scene near the climax of the film, his portrayal is consistently meticulous and blood curdling.
The movie is fast paced and utterly engrossing, but knows when to slow down to give the audience a bit of a mental break. However, it never drags and a two hour flick seemed to go by in the same length of time it would take to watch a 30 minute sitcom.
This movie has aged well and is a must-see for any crime drama fans out there, both old and young (but not too young).
