Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Steven A — 14 Aug 2017
Much can be & has been said about this disgustingly beautiful macabre thriller. The acting is bitingly perfect, the story is solid & twisting, the editing is brilliant, & it features two of the most terrifying characters in film history.
However, this most recent viewing made me realize what a piercing & unnerving look it is at what it's like to be a modern woman in a man's world. And because it's not from the "villain's" (aka man's) perspective, it works beautifully as a straight-up critique of the male gaze.
