Review of The Signal (2014) by Elizabeth B — 22 Sep 2014
What's with the negativity? Seriously? The film is visually marvelous, William Eubank's direction is superb (drawing inspiration from Kubrick), the production is extremely impressive and the script, while not gold, is well-written.
The acting is good, but what makes the film special is how it's a mixture of themes and things we've seen before, just acted upon in a different way. I'd say The Signal is a mix of Kubrick, Chris Carter and Rod Sterling, and leaves room- a whole lot of room- open for either a massive sequel or bundle of sequels.
Hopefully the former.
