While being VERY predictable I still liked this movie. The scenes were always beautiful. There was an over abundance of slow motion scenes as though the director just figured out how to use this and go to excited with it. The "twist" ending was obvious from about a third maybe halfway through. It would have been better if there was a little more subtly used. Still this movie was scary at times, dark most of the time and felt crushingly sad.

The script needed more time spent on character depth and story. I know many people had an issue with the sci fi not having enough sci fi in it. I felt there was enough it just wasn't developed intelligently enough. While I worked out what was going on very quickly some of the scenes to get there could have either been more clear or been removed altogether. If you have an idea make sure you understand fully yourself how it works before you attempt to show it to others. The preview made it look as though the college kids had special powers much like in chronicle. I understand that you did not want to give away what was happening but I know you don't want your audience to go into a movie expecting something completely different from what they get. The whole project was plagued by an excellent director who should have stuck to what made him special and found a writer that could bring his vision to life. I look forward to seeing his next movie. So long as he is the director only.

This movie is still worth seeing if you like sci fi.
