Review of The Signal (2014) by Roxanne R — 11 Oct 2014
My feeling on this one is brilliantly summarized by what critic Bilge Ebiri said from NY Magazine/Vulture: ""You spend a lot of the movie confused, but the great big reveals of its finale don't feel very shocking at all".
We have three college students (Nic, Haley and Jonah) on a road trip around the Southwest going to drop Haley to Caltech university. During the roadtrip they are taunted online by a hacker only known as Nomad who broke into MIT's servers and exposed security faults.
The guys want to meet this hacker and put an end to the only taunting so they intercept the signal and when they reach the origin point something happens to all of them. The plot continues but I think the script was average and the plot too ambiguous until at the end it is revealed what truly was going on.
Interesting concept but it failed to thrill me.
