Review of The Siege of Jadotville (2016) by Seán Ó — 08 Oct 2016
Great action film, focused on a small company of men facing odds of 20 to 1. It was not intended to examine the greater political aspect of the war, but it would have benefited from greater exposition of the complexity of the situation: Where the pro-western, neo-colonist Katanga was being attacked by UN supported Congo, that the individual executed in the first scene was the prime minister of Congo, who after failing get support from the west, asked for help from soviets- and found himself handed over to the rebels- his execution setting the stage for a Cold War Crisis and into the mix, 150 men from the West (of Ireland).
