Yeah, it is not a love story. For those of you seeking character development and plot twists, watch a drama. This is a story of a single battle, told persuasively and heroically in an effort to rehabilitate the brave soldiers who had been treated like cowards for political purposes.

The movie explains the outrageous odds against them due to an overwhelming mercenary enemy and conniving politicians who viewed them as pawns on a chess board. I thought it told the story of the men on the ground very well.
