Review of The Shrine (2010) by Todd M — 07 Sep 2012
An interesting and creative take on the americans-travel-to-a-creepy-village-in-eastern-europe tale. I enjoyed this better than Hostel. If it weren't for the terrible acting of the two female leads (Sampson and Heffern), this would have been a much better film.
It's predictable, yet I love the premise and the ending. Trevor Matthews, who plays Henryk, co-wrote this imaginative and creepy story. He needs a little more practice, but unlike Eli Roth, Matthews has the potential to bring the scares AND the gore.
