Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Corey N — 21 Dec 2010
This was a solid film starring James Stewart, Margaret Sullavan and Frank Morgan. Basic plot has two people writing love letters too each other. But they have never met. But in fact they work together at a retail store without a clue since they seem to hate each other at work.
This is part comedy, romance and some drama. This movie is based off of a play and it shows at times the way the director films it. Stewart is great as usual in his role. Plus the rest of the cast are solid as well.
The film is not as fun as past Stewart movies but there are moments in this film that shine. Well worth a watch for any James Stewart fan.
