The Shoes Of The Fisherman is a mystery to me...namely because it is based on a book, that was never going to be suitable movie material.
It's not that it's an awful film or any thing...Anthony Quinn's performance is the only thing that saves it from being awful though. Even Laurence Olivier is unremarkable in this film. Most of the acting is deadpan and lacks motive. However, it does provide some insight into the workings of the election of a pope...if you're into that sort of thing.
It may be an OK story, but this film should never have been made.
