Review of The Shipping News (2001) by Lito B — 30 Aug 2008

This film had such potential to be so great. But, in fact, I actually think it suffers from a flawed and somewhat weak storyline. Completely talanted actors such as Kevin Spacey, Julianne Moore and Judi Dench are wasted in this melodramatic mess.

Only Cate Blanchett in a brief, 10 minute or so performance, manages to add much to this film. Sad to say this film was directed by Lasse Hallstrom, who wields much more talent than this film exhibits.
