Review of The Shipping News (2001) by Miranda P — 16 Jul 2008

This is definitely a book lover's movie. I loved the imagery and humour in this and also its unpredictability. The film is well cast and beautiful to look at. However having read the book which I would highly reccommend I am somewhat puzzled by the changes they made as some of them seem unnecessary.

Why change seal fin curry to seal flipper pie? Also Kevin Spacey's character Quoyle is described as being quite overweight and unattractive in the book which is not really emphasised in the movie.
