Review of The Shining (1980) by Jesus C — 19 Nov 2013
Stanley Kubrick...what can I say about him? He's an amazing director who has never made the same movie twice, always had something new and incredible up his sleeve, and never made a single even slightly bad movie.
And balls to Blair Witch whateverthehellitis, THIS is the scariest film I've ever seen! Especially since it did luckily come out in a time when horror movies were, well, actually horrifying! In The Shining there are no ghosts, no strange creatures, but the unsettling music, the amazing performances (with the exception of Shelley Duvall at times but it's still fairly good), the sheer tension and unforgettableness.
..it's a goddamn masterpiece.
