Review of The Shining (1980) by Critic M — 01 Dec 2013
The undeniably magnetizing directorial style of Stanley Kubrick is arguably at it's strangest and most thrilling in "The Shining". This film is more than just a book that was turned into a movie, "The Shining" is an experience. Kubrick reels you into his world and tells a story that fascinates and disturbs. There is much interest in this picture and much speculation about hidden meanings and messages throughout it.

Jack Nicholson does an unbeatable job at portraying the unstable Jack Torrance. The young Danny is an incredible actor considering his age and Shelley Duvall who plays Wendy...well I'm not so sure how I feel about her honestly. The look of this film, like Kubrick's other films is visually breathtaking. The cinematography, lighting and overall production design is magnificent. This film is deep, eerie and is more than just a movie. "The Shining" is it's own dimension.
