Review of The Sheltering Sky (1990) by Paul T — 14 Aug 2008
A flawed but compelling and unforgettable cinematic adaptation of Paul Bowles novel, truly captures the epic internal and physical journeys of the protagonists, even though they are kept at an emotional distance.
Stunning cinematography and a mesmerising score by Ryuchi Sakamoto. Like most of Bertolucci's films... even if you don't think you like it on first viewing, its images will stay with you forever.
