Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Steve G — 06 May 2016
"The Shawshank Redemption" is an incredible Drama film of 1994. The plot to "The Shawshank Redemption" during the 1940's a wealthy banker named "Andy Dufresne" portrayed by "Tim Robbins" is charged with murdering his wife and a golfer whom she was sleeping with at the time.
Later on "Andy Dufresne" is taken to the "Shawshank" prison where he meets a man named "Red" portrayed by "Morgan Freeman" who is guilty of murder. The movie starts off with "Andy Dufresne" in his car drunk holding a gun outside his wife's house.
This scene is both intense and thrilling. For the most of the movie the relationship is shown between "Andy" and "Red". During the movie it also shows how "Andy's" intelligence can be used for the better at "Shawshank" prison.
These scenes are very interesting to watch. The film's climax is very surprising and amazing, but what are even better are the scenes that follow. The acting in this movie is truly stunning; "Morgan Freeman" and "Tim Robbins'" performances were both stunning.
"Thomas Newman" did a marvellous job at composing sad, happy and thrilling music for "The Shawshank Redemption". Certain scenes with have music that sounds both weird and is misplaced.
One of the best things about "The Shawshank Redemption" is the way it is filmed, the movie uses wide-shots and close ups whenever needed which makes a great scene. If you are a person who enjoys "Stephen King" movies' or movies with "Morgan Freeman" than I highly recommend you watch "The Shawshank Redemption" as it has an incredible plot, amazing visuals and marvellous acting.
Although there is only one issue with the film and that is the music, there are only one or two scenes that could have had some different music. I give 1994's "The Shawshank Redemption" a 9.
5/10.
