Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Laura R — 04 Jan 2014
Going into this movie, I was very skeptical because of how great everyone had always said it was. I thought it was going to disappoint me, but it never did. From the very first scene, I was sucked into this movie.
It is fantastic. The characters are written and acted brilliantly. Tim Robbins, as a quiet, mysterious yet innocent convict, was fantastic. He was interesting and I felt really awful about everything he had to experience throughout this movie.
Morgan Freeman, as "the man that can get you things," was phenomenal. I completely bought everything he said and did, I loved his character and at the end, when he finally speaks his mind, it was so fresh and outstanding to hear.
I loved it. The characters that we are supposed to hate in this movie, I really hated. It made me so angry every time they came on the screen. Some of the scenes are hard to watch, but that is a testament to how well this film is made, that I was that effected by it.
This is an amazing story of hope that every single person should see and appreciate. It is one of the greatest films ever made.
