Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by John C — 10 Aug 2014
A different touch for Stephen King, but a wondrous sensation it turned out to be on the big screen. Shawshank tells of how a wrong judgment can teach you a thing or two about yourself and the friends you will make that can last you a lifetime.
Oscar winners Timothy Robbins and Morgan Freeman lead this well-played cast as life lessons are passed down to each inmate involved in the story of Andy Dufrene (Robbins), a successful banker who is given a life sentence for killing his wife and her lover.
With time on his side, Dufrene is soon motivated to bust out of his wrongly accused cell and make it back to the real world to live out his days as a free man. In the end, as Red (Freeman) put it, Andy Dufrene had made it to Mexico.
5 stars.
